Installing your eSIM takes about two minutes. Do it before you travel, while connected to Wi-Fi — your plan only starts when you connect to a network at your destination.
Before you start
- Your device supports eSIM and is not locked to a carrier.
- You have a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- You have the delivery email from esimdata.co open — on your phone for one-tap install, or on another screen to scan the QR code.
- Do not delete the eSIM after installing. Most eSIMs can only be installed once.
iPhone and iPad
Option 1 — One-tap install (iOS 17.4 or newer)
- Open the delivery email on your iPhone and tap Install on iPhone.
- Tap Continue and wait a moment while the eSIM activates.
Option 2 — Scan the QR code
- Go to Settings → Mobile Data (or Cellular) → Add eSIM → Use QR Code.
- Scan the QR code shown on another screen or printed out.
- Tap Continue and wait until the eSIM is activated.
Option 3 — Enter details manually
- Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM → Use QR Code → Enter Details Manually.
- Enter the SM-DP+ address and Activation code from your delivery email. Leave Confirmation Code empty.
Set up the lines
- Default line / iMessage & FaceTime: keep your primary number.
- Mobile Data: choose the new eSIM. You can rename it (for example “Travel”) to recognise it easily.
- Leave Allow Mobile Data Switching off, so your home SIM doesn't use roaming data.
When you arrive
Go to Settings → Mobile Data → [your eSIM] and turn on Data Roaming. Make sure the eSIM is selected for Mobile Data.
Android
Option 1 — One-tap install
Open the delivery email on your phone and tap Install on Android, then confirm. This works on most recent Android phones.
Option 2 — Scan the QR code
Samsung Galaxy:
- Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
- Tap Scan QR code and scan the code from your delivery email.
- Tap Add and wait until the eSIM is activated.
Google Pixel and most other Android phones:
- Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and tap + (or “Add eSIM”).
- Choose Download a SIM instead → Next, then scan the QR code.
- Tap Download / Activate and wait for confirmation.
Menu names can differ slightly between brands. If you can't find the option, search Settings for “eSIM”.
Set up the lines
- Calls and SMS: keep your primary SIM.
- Mobile data: choose the new eSIM.
When you arrive
Turn on Data roaming for the eSIM: Samsung — Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming; Pixel — Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → [your eSIM] → Roaming.
Not connecting?
- Check that Data Roaming is on and the eSIM is your mobile data line.
- Switch Airplane Mode on and off, or restart the phone.
- Select a network manually: turn off Automatic network selection and pick another local operator.
- See the FAQ for common error messages, or write to support@esimdata.co with your order number.
